Learn more about our charitable giving commitment, how contributions are calculated, and how your support makes a difference.
The See You Later Military Project donates 90% of positive net proceeds from streaming royalties, song sales, and project merchandise to charitable organizations supporting military members, veterans, and their families. The remaining 10% supports the project and its continued work.
The project will select charitable recipients based on their mission and ability to receive the funds. We will confirm recipient arrangements before publicly naming an organization. An organization’s name or logo will only appear on our website or promotional materials with its permission.
What “net proceeds” means
Net proceeds are the income we actually receive, minus documented eligible project expenses. These may include distribution and payment processing fees, merchandise production and fulfillment, advertising, and reasonable project-related operating costs.
Expenses incurred before this updated policy takes effect will not be deducted from income or carried forward to reduce future donations. We will not wait to recover those historical costs before making donations.
The project donates 90% of positive net proceeds. The remaining 10% supports the project and its continued work.
Song and merchandise income are combined for this calculation. Direct charitable donations are handled separately.
Eligible expenses are documented costs directly attributable to the project and incurred during the applicable reporting period. These may include distribution, royalty administration, payment processing, merchandise production and fulfillment, recording, mixing, mastering, music-video production, advertising, website work, and reasonable project-related operating expenses.
Historical expenses incurred before this updated policy took effect will not be deducted or reimbursed from income covered by the donation calculation. We will not wait to recover those costs before making donations.
Song and merchandise income are combined for this calculation. Unrelated personal or business expenses are excluded, and each eligible expense is counted only once. Direct charitable donations are accounted for separately.
Each reporting period’s donation is based on that period’s positive net proceeds. If eligible expenses equal or exceed covered income, no percentage-based donation is generated for that period.
The project absorbs any shortfall. It will not carry forward to reduce donations in a later reporting period.
We donate 90% of positive net proceeds and retain the remaining 10% to support the project’s continued work. No minimum donation amount is guaranteed.
We will publish quarterly updates showing covered income received, current eligible expenses, opening and closing unrecovered costs, net proceeds, and charitable contributions calculated and paid.
The 90% commitment applies to net proceeds—not gross sales, purchase prices or streaming subscription fees. See You Later Military Project makes the contribution; streaming platforms, retailers and distributors are not making this pledge.
Direct charitable donations are accounted for separately and handled according to their stated purpose.
The project will select charitable recipients based on their mission and ability to receive the funds. We will confirm recipient arrangements before publicly naming an organization. An organization’s name or logo will only appear on our website or promotional materials with its permission.
We will calculate net proceeds quarterly and publish an update within 60 days after each calendar quarter ends.
Our first reporting period will cover launch through December 31, 2026, with an update due by March 1, 2027.
Each update will show:
We will transfer the calculated donation within the same 60-day period and publish confirmation after payment. If a charity agreement requires earlier payment, we will follow that agreement.
If no song income has arrived, we will report that too. A delay in royalty reporting does not necessarily mean the song has received no streams or sales.
A song purchase is a purchase of music, and streaming is listening through a platform. Neither should be described as a direct, tax-deductible donation to the beneficiary.
See You Later Military Project makes the charitable contribution from the covered income it receives. Separate donations made directly to a charity are governed by that charity's terms.

A family story. Six meaningful words. A song honoring service members, veterans and the people who love them.
Tom Kalchthaler is the songwriter behind “See You Later on Your Lips” and the inspiration for the family-led See You Later Military Project. What began with six words he wrote in 2007 grew into a song shaped by his family’s military connections and the love that carries families through separation. Recorded at Beaird’s Music Group in Nashville, the song is scheduled for release on Veterans Day, November 11, 2026.
In March 2007, Tom brought those six words together in a way neither he nor his family had heard before. Curious about their originality, they searched online. Familiar expressions such as “see you later, alligator” and “see you later on your wedding day” appeared, but they found no instance of the exact six-word phrase. While an internet search cannot establish that words have never been spoken, their discovery marked the beginning of something deeply meaningful: an original expression, to their knowledge, that would inspire a song and a larger mission.
For Tom, “See You Later on Your Lips” offers a way to express connection, affection, and the hope of being together again. He and his daughter, Ashley Yocum, envision it becoming a phrase people carry into their own lives. Whether heading off to work in the morning, sending a loved one off to war, or trusting that even death is not goodbye forever, put a “See You Later on Your Lips.” Across everyday partings and life’s most difficult farewells, those six words hold love, connection, and the hope that separation is not the end of the story.
Together, Tom and Ashley have worked to bring that vision to a wider audience through the See You Later Military Project. Their commitment is rooted in a family history of military service. Tom’s father, Ashley’s grandfather, served in the U.S. Navy. Tom’s brother, Ashley’s uncle, also served, as have many other members of their family. Their service and sacrifice give the project a personal purpose: to pay tribute to their legacy while honoring others who have served and the families who stand beside them.
In 2007, Tom Kalchthaler wrote six words: “See you later on your lips.”
Years later, those words became the title of a song—and the starting point for a family-led effort to honor military service, celebrate the people behind the uniforms and support military and veteran families.
For Tom’s daughter, Ashley Yocum, helping bring the song to listeners is deeply personal. Her grandfather Ralph served in the Navy, and military service is woven through the family’s history. Family photographs, memories and stories help connect that history to the experiences of families serving today.
